There are a number of options. They are, F-1(student Visa) , H-4 (dependent of an H1B) , F2 (spouse of an F1) , B-2(Tourist), or B-1(Business status).These viable options will help a person to stay in status, but one should make sure that the eligibility criteria are met for whichever status on opts. But before applying for change of status one must have a full understanding of legal and other consequences.
